How we grew Cityindex's index with a dedicated site and a working hub

Cityindex is a city culture title we support with ongoing marketing work, a lead site and a hub for buyers.

Outcome

Live an editorial directory built as design

The challenge

Cityindex grows through buyers who compare before they talk to sales. It needed an editorial directory of a city's creative scene, designed as a piece of work and not a spreadsheet with a skin this year. The brief was a site and a follow-on rhythm, not a one-off set of pages.

What we built

  • Cityindex team support across the year: positioning, pages and measurement, held with the client in one running plan.
  • A dedicated section of the site built to bring in new reader leads each month.
  • A signed-in area where the Cityindex team checks progress, models the next quarter, and downloads the pages and notes they use in sales calls.
  • Search setup and tracking so Cityindex enquiries are counted apart from other demand.

The result

Across the engagement, the agreed metric moved as planned, with a clearer pipeline and a working hub the team still uses. The figure comes from the engagement and is checked again before we repeat it in a public pitch or a page.

In their words
It feels like a magazine, not a database. People in the city send it around, and the studios ask to be included on this whole brief.

The stack behind it

Cityindex runs on a stack the in-house team can edit after handoff. Where their own editors matter more than custom engineering, we say so and we write that down.
